Alum Hollow Trail
Overall: 10/10 Dog friendliness: 10/10 Wow factor: 8/10
Alum Hollow “aka” easily one of my favorite trails in the Huntsville, AL area.
The location is secluded; rarely do you run into other people which is how I like to hike. The trails range in difficulty from easy to difficult and are all decently marked.
The main trail follows a creek back into the forest for a ways and, if you know how to find it, ends at a beautiful (but not extraordinary) waterfall that I could sit and enjoy for hours. The trek down to the fall is steep but well worth it.
One of my favorite parts of this location is the hikes can be as short or as long as you want to make them. Numerous side trails connect to different land trusts that you can adventure into. However, if you stay within the Alum Hollow train, it takes approximately 2 hours depending on how often you stop to take in your surroundings.
